Q. What is Woodfest Wales?

A. Woodfest Wales is a festival, showcasing a variety of wood related activities, crafts and forest industries.
Timber professionals come together to compete in various competitions some of which include: Chainsaw Carving, Pole Climbing, Axe Racing etc.
Timber businesses, organisations and associations use the event to showcase their own specialities and areas of interest: Forestry Commission, Coed Cymru, Arborists, Wood Chippers, Timber Haulage, Timber Handling and Equipment etc.
Traditional and modern woodworkers sell their products and display a range of wood skills to the public: Willow Weaving, Stick Making, Wood Turning, Pole Lathing etc.
A range of family events and attractions also take place over the three days: Food Zone, Art Zone, Fairground rides and Children's Activities, Birds of Prey and Horse Logging Demonstrations etc.

Q. Where is Woodfest Wales?

A. Woodfest Wales takes place on flat fields between St.Asaph town and St.Asaph Business Park, just off the A55 - junction 26.

St.Asaph is under half an hour drive from Chester and about forty minutes drive from Holyhead.

Q. What family activities and attractions are there ?

A. The event is ideally suited to families, large or small, young or old.
Attractions include: Displays of horse logging, birds of prey, woodturning, willow weaving, basket making, pyrography, furniture making, stick making, vintage forestry equipment, and much more. Competitions to watch include 22+ chainsaw artists competing to carve beautiful sculpture from massive tree stumps and logs. Pole climbers racing to reach the top of our two NEW 80ft poles. Axe men and foresters competing in Timber Sport displays of axe throwing, sawing, felling, snedding, log running and cross cutting.
Oak framing and flooring skills will be on display.
Also on site is a Food Fair showcasing food and drink from local producers, an Art Zone where children are encouraged to create wood and wood related paintings and crafts and a general craft marquee where you can buy a wide range of products
Activities include, a visit to the Forestry Commission yurt, try your hand at pyrography, willow weaving, art and craft workshops, traditional wooden games, archery and shooting, quad bikes and traditional fairground rides.

Q. What is on offer to the timber industry ?

A. Over 100 businesses will be displaying a range of products and services, from trees and plants to haulage vehicles, modern equipment and services including, chainsaws, wood-chippers and tools, arboriculture, hedge cutting equipment, heavy machinery and equipment, oak framing, woodturning supplies and other crafts. Representatives will be on hand from the main forest organisations and associations, including The Forestry Commission, Coed Cymru, various colleges and trade associations. The event is proving to be an ideal meeting point for a whole cross-section of forestry professionals and timber trades.
